EOI – IODASA STATE TRAINING SQUAD

IODASA are seeking expressions of interest for South Australian Optimist sailors to participate in - (subscription numbers permitting) -  an  intensive State Based  Squad Training program.

These squads will be run by IODASA and are in addition to any Club training the sailors continue to participate in.

The training is scheduled to run from late August/September to December 2024, to align the athletes peak performance with the commencement of the Optimist Nationals in Qld Jan 2025.

The squads options on offer are:- 

1. Open  - this squad is targeted at sailors keen to attend qualification for AOST squads for 2024/5
2. Developing - this squad is targeted at advanced intermediate sailors and or new to open sailors looking to advance to AOST selections beyond 2024.

This program is aimed at developing high performance sailors and will involve a significant commitment from accepting squad members.

Training locations will vary and sailors and parents to expect changes to locations and times to maximise use of available weather windows. The attached schedule is a guide to the quantum of training events - exact dates and times will vary.

Squad Numbers will be limited to ensure quality of delivery of coaching. Please note - nomination of an EOI by a sailor does not guarantee a position into either squad. Further nomination of participation, in either squad, will be based on the head coaches squad  allocation recommendations following the qualification rounds in August. 

Prices of these squads are anticipated to be around last years figures- however the final budgets are contingent on numbers . As an indication figures for last season were as follows:-

• Squad Participation $800- $900

(please note these prices are indicative at this stage - and subjective to participation numbers)

There will be no requirement of commitment until after squad selection has been completed in August/September.
