Compliance for Competing

Optimist Sailors competing at National or international level must have certified equipment- including- hull, spars and sail (s). State level competition may also request compliance documentation.

Equipment compliance is documented in the manufacturers measurement book. If you do not have your boats maesurement book please refer to registering your boat on this web site or go to  AIODA BOAT REGISTRATION

 

Sails

To compete in an Optimist State or National Championship your sail needs to have a signed measurement certificate to show your sail complies with the IODA Class Rules.  These can be issued by an Official Class Measurer. 

Sails are measured in two parts:-

  1.  Sail size/cut shape
  2.  Letter/Number application compliance
